Mayo Senator Michelle Mulherin has called for an update on the delivery of the Crossmolina flood defences. Speaking in the Seanad, Senator Mulherin said: “In September 2015, €430 million was put into a pot for investment in various schemes around the country. The future of GMIT's Castlebar campus has taken another twist this week as concerns for the future of the campus intensified. Fine Gael senator Michelle Mulherin said that she had been informed that a number of staff and students at the Castlebar campus had been asked to move to the Galway campus, saying: “I am very concerned that between 12 and 15 staff, at GMIT Castlebar have been asked via their union to transfer voluntarily to Galway within three to four weeks. Should they refuse, they will be added to the redeployment panel, and may be asked to transfer to any location within the higher education sector.

Senator Michelle Mulherin this week at the Mayo Joint Policing Committee's quarterly meeting which was held in Ireland West Airport Knock expressed her concern about the lack of a sniffer dog to detect drugs on incoming flights at the airport. She criticised the Revenue Commissioners for the removal of a sniffer dog that had been previously at the airport. She was also critical that the Revenue Commissioners did not send a representative to the meeting to discuss the dog's removal.
